THX® Select2 Plus™ Certified

The TX-NR609 features THX Select2 Plus certification, guaranteeing that it can faithfully reproduce movie content as the filmmaker intended. THX Select2 Plus certification is specified for rooms where the screen to-seat-viewing distance is 10 to 12 feet and the room volume is around 2000 cubic feet. To achieve THX Select2 Plus certification, the TX-NR609 must meet the world's most demanding standards for home theater audio quality and performance, and must play at reference volume levels with minimal distortion.

4K Support Via Marvell Qdeo®

The TX-NR609 offers full 4K (3840 x 2160) upscaling of standard video sources such as 480i/p, 720p, and 1080i/p. Interlaced-to-progressive conversion and scaling are performed by a high-quality Marvell Qdeo® video-processing chip. Qdeo® is a versatile video processor that uses algorithms designed to erase video noise and artifacts such as jaggies and feathering. Played back on a compatible widescreen display, your Blu-ray Discs and DVDs will look more detailed and cinematic than ever.

Audyssey DSX™ and Dolby® Pro Logic® IIz Add New Dimensions to Surround Sound

The TX-NR609 handles two advanced surround-sound technologies from Audyssey and Dolby that offer exciting new ways to set up the speakers in your home theater system. Audyssey DSX lets you incorporate "front wide" speakers, in place of the usual surround back speakers, to expand the width of the soundstage. Set up at a recommended 6° off center, these channels help to produce a more realistic soundstage and a more immersive listening experience. Alternatively, Audyssey DSX can reconfigure the TX-NR609's surround back channels to deliver "front height" channels. These channels carry ambient, non-directional audio that adds a new vertical dimension to your movies and games. Dolby Pro Logic IIz provides a similar front-height speaker option that likewise works to create a more enveloping home theater experience.

Convenient Overlay On-Screen Display via HDMI®

Changing your A/V receiver's settings is now more seamless than ever, thanks to the TX-SR609's overlay On-Screen Display (OSD) feature. With a simple press of the home button, the on-screen set-up menus appear overlaid on the video image you're watching. This means you can adjust the settings immediately, without having to switch back and forth from a blank screen background.

Use PC-IN to easily connect your notebook or mediacenter PC to your Onkyo AV receiver, allowing you to watch your stored movies on your flatscreen TV. You can now easily watch internet videos, PC-stored movies and pictures on your TV. (Audio connectivity may vary depending on your computer hardware, but Onkyo receivers support a wide range of different interfaces.)
