Additional information relating to Canon Speedlite 300EZ
If the bigger 420EZ or 430EZ is not for you and this compact 300EZ may be your choice as the companion flash. Designed exclusively for Canon EOS cameras, this lightweight, compact dedicated flash features an Auto Internal Zoom Mechanism that matches the flash coverage for the lens in use from 28mm-70mm. The 300EZ uses Canon automatic A-TTL operation - the EOS camera measures the ambient light and fires a near-infrared preflash to determine the flash -to-subject distance and set a working aperture. Then, during exposure, SPC photocells measure the light reflected on the film plane and control flash output for perfect flash exposure balanced with the background light. The 300EZ also features a Rapid Fire Flash System which provides flash operation within 1 second of turning on the flash.
