This book is intended as an introduction to BASIC programming for accountants. li assumes no computer knowledge on the part of the reader. Most introductory BASIC programming books are oriented toward the general public and do not cover those topics that are important to an accountant. ln this book, the BASIC language is introduced in a business context. You are shown how to use the language in order to write programs that are useful in business.
Each chapter consists of examples, followed by exercises. At the end of each chapter there are problems. ln order to receive the maximum benefit from this book, the exercises should be done after reading the text relating to the examples. The problems should be attempted only after you have done the exercises.
All examples, exercises, and problems are business oriented. The major example that is used throughout the book is payroll. lt starts very simply and continues chapter by chapter until a complete payroll is produced. Other examples covered include inventory, sales commissions, customer statements, and invoicing. |
